Taba ng Talangka Rice Recipe

I fist heard about Taba ng Talangka (crab fat) from a friend living in Pampanga. I know crab meat but crab fat paste, I'm quite ignorant and didn't know what dish we could cook out of it until I learned about this recipe. So next time that friend will visit the city, I'll ask her to bring me a bottle of crab fat paste so I could cook Taba ng Talangka Rice. Can't wait!

Ingredients for Taba ng Talangka Rice:

  • 2/3 cup crab fat paste (taba ng talangka)
  • 6 cups rice
  • 2 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 2 tsp annatto (atsuete)
  • sliced calamansi
Cooking Procedure for Taba ng Talangka Rice:
  1. Soak the annatto seeds in the hot water until the color is extracted. Strain.
  2. In a wok, saute garlic and crab fat in olive oil. When the mixture starts to bubble vigorously, add the annatto water. Cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add rice and mix until the rice grains are evenly coated with the crab fat.
  4. Serve with sliced calamansi and your favorite grilled seafood, pork, or chicken.

Menudo Recipe

Ingredients for Menudo:


  • 1 pack Knorr Menudo Recipe Mix
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1/4 kg pork, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup garbanzos
  • 1 pc potato, cut into cubes
  • 1 pc carrot, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 pc bell pepper, cut into cubes
Procedure for cooking Menudo:
  1. Dissolve Knorr Menudo Recipe Mix in water. Set aside.
  2. In a heated and oiled pot, saute pork and pork liver then add the mix. Stir.
  3. When pork is halfway done, add the vegetables, stir, and simmer until cooked.

All-In-One Stir-Fried Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients for All-In-One Stir-Fried Vegetables:
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 bundle green beans, trimmed and sliced into half
  • 5 pcs young corn, sliced into half lengthwise
  • 1 pc carrot, cut into strips
  • Seasoning powder of your choice
How to cook All-In-One Stir Fried Vegetables
  1. In a heated and oiled pan, saute vegetables until cooked and still crisp.
  2. Season to taste, stir well for a minute and serve.

Pork Afritada Recipe


Ingredients:
  • 1 pack of Afritada Recipe Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1/2 kg pork, cut into cubes
  • 1 pc potato, cut into cubes
  • 1 pc bell pepper, cut into cubes
Procedure:
  1. Dissolve Afritada Mix in water. Set aside.
  2. In a heated and oiled pot, saute pork then add the mix. Stir.
  3. When pork is halfway done, add the vegetables, stir, and simmer until cooked.

Inihaw na Bangus

Inihaw ng Bangus would sure create a buzz in the dinner table. With the "milky" taste of milkfish, it sure is one of every Pinoy's favorite to grill. The smoky aroma with the tangy taste of calamansi and tomatoes, paired with the salty-savoury taste of soy sauce. 

Ingredients:
  • 1 kg Bangus (Milkfish), cleaned - keep the scales if you're not using aluminum foil
  • 1/4 cup tomatoes, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup red onions, cut into small cubes
  • cooking oil, as needed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp calamansi juice
  • seasoning powder
Procedure:
  1. Make a slit along the back of the fish and season evenly with your favorite seasoning powder
  2. Fill the fish with tomatoes and onions. Brush with oil and grill until done.
  3. You may also serve with liquid seasoning or soy sauce with calamansi juice.
